A rocking chair needs more room than its footprint: it moves back and forth. Five minutes with a tape measure now saves a return later.
1. Measure your corner
Measure the width and depth of the space where the chair will go, and the gap between the cot and the wall if it's for the nursery.
2. Compare with the chair's measurements
Each chair page lists the key measurements in cm and inches, as supplied by the manufacturer. Allow 2–5 cm either way, and leave extra space behind the chair so it can rock freely.
3. Tape the outline on the floor
Mark the chair's width and depth on the floor with masking tape, then walk around it. Check doorways and stairs on the way in too.
